Hiking started  for us as a family vacation. We started hiking as an entire family. We have now spent the last 25 years hiking the mountains in New England. We started with a book called Hiking the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

For us, there is only one purpose to go Hiking, and that is to enjoy the  beauty of Mother Nature..
A person hiking for the first time can very well be recognized the minute we see him from his approach, climbing up a 6,000 ft mountain with only a bottle of water in his hand. He or she is dressed in shorts,.shirt, and sneakers.  In 5 hours as in is getting dark,he or she is lost. People call for help all the time because they are not Prepared. to hike a mountain. Even a short 2 mile walk in the woods can be dangerous,if you don't know what you are doing.
.
Though this picture is a bit amusing, this is true for many people who start hiking.

My  advice to you is.spend time with nature, Have fun!. Breathe the fresh air. Watch the formation of a cloud.  Going for a hike, and  breaking the  rules, is a waste of time and engery. It may also cost  you your life.
Be Prepared
You simply cannot forget regarding your safety since it is said that hiking is all meant for fun.

We have been hiking for about 25 years. We have had several interesting experiences which we would like to share with you. We have hiked most of New Hampshire White Mountains. The presidentials are the most challenging in all of New Hampshire. Not in the Presidential's,but one of our most interesting Mt's to hike is Mt.Manodnock. We have hike Mt. Manodnock many times and the most interesting trail is the Pump Belly trail. This trail is 9.5 miles long and its the best trail on the mountain for views. We live in Laconia, NH and are only 6 miles from the Belnap Mountian range. The Belnap mountians range from 1600 ft to 2300 ft. These are easy mountians to climb, but the views are excellent. On this web page we will share some of the fun trails we have done over the years. We hope you will share some of your experiences too. See you on the hiking trail.
